Our New Library!

That's right, we have finally moved to our new location and we are up and running.

The first couple of weeks were hard, but there's so much more to offer now that we are in our new location.

Our computers are operating with Windows 8 and are touch screen.

We have two silent tutor rooms available for all patrons looking for an area of quiet study.

Our teen room is coming along nicely and houses a safe place for teens to hang out.

The kid's room is nothing but fun! With computers with games, reading chairs and more!

The conference room is available to be rented for meetings, movies, and more!

Our program schedule is picking up and we're getting ready for the 2015 Summer Reading Program. Check the website and Facebook for more information about upcoming programs!

Make sure to look up our new hours as well:

Wear What you Love!

You know that saying, "You wear what you love. Love what you wear" right? Well, around here at the Mulberry Library, we love our Library! We are wearing t-shirts every Friday announcing our great adoration of this great public service entity. And they are great-looking shirts, too!

And we would love it if you wore one!! We have them in two colors, dark grey and blue and they are at a fabulous price of $10 per shirt, $12 for XXL.

These shirts will benefit the library in a multitude of ways:
1. They market our library!
2. They help fund our new library!
3. They market our library!
4. Have I mentioned that they market our library? :)

One way we receive funding from the state is by the number of people who visit our library. So, the more people who know about our library and can use our services, the more funding we can receive which leads to better and more library programs.

Please come by the library to purchase a t-shirt today. If you love our library, it is a wonderful way to show your support. And you will love what you are wearing, to boot!

September, the month of NEW programming mixed in with our classics!

We, at the Mulberry Public Library, pride ourselves in being the Little Library that Could. We love our community and want to do as much for our patrons as humanly possible, but sometimes we surprise ourselves! We do more.

Now is such a time.

Since September started, we have organized many new programs that are meant to aid our patrons in their search for knowledge or make them aware of several amazing community outreaches.

There is a lot, but so we don't overwhelm you, (and us :) ) here are a few programs we are offering:

Today, September 12th at 3:30 p.m., the Polk County Sheriff's Office will be coming to the Mulberry Civic Center to teach children about Stranger Danger. Bring your children, nieces, nephews and grandchildren as deputies stress the many dangers of trusting strangers. Please sign up here at the link on the bottom of this page.

Learn Your Library for Homeschool families will be Tuesday, 10 a.m., September 16th at the Mulberry Library. Students and parents will learn how to navigate the Polk County Cooperative for books and resources that goes along with their home programs. A tour of the library and a book hunt will also be part of the events. Please sign up here at the link on the bottom of this page.

Get your costumes ready for Star Wars Reads Day October 4th!

And, of course, the classics will remain on the calendar!

Mondays at 3:30, Crafternoons have turned into Read and Craft. During the month of September Charlie and the Chocolate Factory will be read out loud by Ms. Brenna followed by an awesome craft put together by Ms. Crystal!

Tuesdays at 3:30, LEGO Club and building timeless creations will resume.

Wednesdays at 10:30, Pre-K Storytime with Ms. Crystal is a blast as usual with her puppets, story and craft.

Sign up here for any event you would like to be a part of:

Sofia Simpson, Library Assistant 1

Hello all! I am back! I took a two-year hiatus, but am thrilled to return to our wonderful Mulberry Library! You may remember me as the former Children's and Teen Librarian, but I am now in a different position. I am the new Assistant to our Director, here to meet different needs within this, "Little Library that Could".
I will be assisting Cheri Schisler, our Library Director, and also overseeing some new projects, such as Homeschool 101 and a Teen Advisory Board, both coming soon!
I would love to chat with both familiar and new faces, so please come in and say hello!

Brenna Hanley, Library Assistant

I'm new to the Library and to Mulberry, but I am happy to join the team and ready to go! Before coming here, I taught Language Arts in Haines City and I'm excited to bring my experience from the classroom to the library! You may see me helping Sofia and Cheri with a new Teen Advisory Board and the special events going on every month.
I am looking forward to meeting all of the regular patrons and getting to know the community! I'm glad to make Mulberry my home!

Seussabration 2012!!

It was a happy birthday party for Dr. Seuss one afternoon at the library!

The youngest of the young and the silliest of the sillies came out to celebrate an icon among children's literature, Dr. Seuss.

This year would have been his 108th birthday, but during his lifetime, he wrote scores of popular and very loved books.

At the party, one of our very own librarians, Ms. Melissa Sorensen, read Sneetches, a story about finding friendships in unlikely places, in your own backyard!

Ms. Sofie, our Children's Librarian, (dressed as Thing 1) along with the puppets, Cat in the Hat and Jack, read Dr. Seuss', Oh! The Places You'll Go!

Even the real Cat in the Hat, came dressed
and ready to perform as he (she, since it was Ms. Cheri, our Library Director) organized Seussy games for our participants!

The day was fun, the day was great! Every child, the little and big, all had nothing on their faces but
grins! With games and stories and songs that spun tales, our party was a success among every male and female!

Thanks to all who came, and to those who missed it, we give a small tsk, tsk, tskit! But never fear, for there will be more fun, more fun than you know~this summer, we promise you so!
