Calling all Mad Artists or Black-Thumb Artists! Teens and Tweens!!

It's not Art if you throw it away,
It's just a piece of trash not for display.

But every so often you lean back with a gasp!
To ooh and to aahh and to hope for some cash.

For you did it this time!
You awoke your inner artist.

Now you can claim you have mad skills,
Instead of the desire to do what you will.

You can erase the black off of your thumb,
Life is bright again, the tunnel looks brighter.

It's all rainbows and dew drops
And honey and cakes,
Sweet apple pastries and a nice warm embrace.

Until you undo it again.
The magic is gone.
This new art will never see the light of the sun.

Until someone sees it and they lean back with a gasp!
They dig in their wallet and offers some cash.

They say, you did it this time!
You have mad skills, would you, could you make another?

You look at your thumb,
The black is fading.

Decide with a nod
While the sun is no longer fading.
You paint with your all and right from the heart.

That's all we can ask for from our teens and our tweens
To enjoy and create and feel like kings and queens
Of the art world, of the Mulberry Library!

It's all in their will
To put art on a wall,
To never doubt that they doubted at all.

Come on over the Mulberry Library
July 22nd at 2 pm, be here with no fear
To make the art of the year!

If You Relate...

I stay up each night
Reading a book.
Turning each page
I know I'm hooked.

My eyes are glued
As the story unfolds
The assassin strikes
Another character grows cold.

Who will be next?
Which book will I choose?
So many before me
It's a game, win or lose.

Shimmering skin,
Magical realms
Flying cars
Pirates at the helm!

I can't get enough
My eyes speed by.
The story unfolds
It ends with a lie!

Will the truth be revealed
I have to know.
Book number two
Page one here I go!

Teen Advisory Board is not a Circus, but it IS Full of Talent

You heard right, Teen Advisory Board is not a group of performers pretending to awe you with their awesomness. This group of students want to make a difference, in their communities, homes and in their own lives.

And I know they will.

These teens love encouragement, (which teen doesn't?) need counsel, but sometimes don't know how to ask (who can relate to that?? As a former teen, me!!) and want to be heard
(point said...teens need to know someone is listening).

But, not only that, they are brimming full of ideas. I just have to ask and I get a room full of teens bursting at the seams to tell me their take and
how to make it happen.

And I love every minute of it.

If you are a teen and have time after school to spare or are a parent or aunt, uncle, grandmother/grandfather, neighbor, 1st cousin or whatever relation to a TEEN, please give them the wonderful advice of sitting in on a
Teen Advisory Board meeting.

It is every 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month at 2:30 pm at the Mulberry Public Library, we will be here and teens will be too with their lights blinking on and off with questions, ideas, comments, and plain teen talk. Join us. You will love it.

There is only one thing to bring to the meeting!
Your light.

Teen Librarian/Assistant Director
